Head count for raa east 2018

When you lie to a cop it's obstruction of justice. When a cop lies to you it's considered good police work. :cautious:
Well I probably should not stir this up but I have to say LE wants respect but the dual standard is not the way to earn it.

After watching the video I have decided to not talk to LE.

Y'all need to be careful -- that "advice" has been around a long time, and sure enough, yours truly has tried it on two occasions, and I've decided, it's bogus.

The first cop -- a young fellow in rural Ohio was "staking out" a lonely intersection just south of Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH, and it was midnight after an all-day drive and I wanted to go find diesel for the car. I drove south, and didn't see anything, and pulled a U-turn headed back to the school, when I saw the blue lights.

I had plenty of time, and had license and registration out and both hands on the wheel when he walked up, and I had the window cracked just as I had seen on the YouTube.

The cop wanted me to roll down the window, and I claimed I had allergies, and he said he could smell BS when he heard it, and . . . well he let me go BUT . . .

The next time, a newly widened road near me with good sight distance had speeds picked up markedly. Over a rise I saw a bunch of cars pulled over, and they motioned me over too.

I started with the same bit, and that cop -- clearly experienced and wasn't going to play said, "I can force you out of the car and put you in handcuffs, and then we can discuss it. Are you going to roll down the window?" They were using this electronic ticket writer, and the ticket of the day was a non-punitive "failure to obey road signs", and I caved.

I have come to the conclusion that most cops have a job to do, and when it involves me, c'est la vie, and roll with it.

Paul do you not considering that bullying? That heavy handed threatening is why I generally dislike LE. They may be people with a job but I don’t care for the whole power tripping attitudes like I’ll rough you up if you don’t do everything I say.

I read the attitude of the officer and respond accordingly. If he’s nice I’ll talk if not I don’t. I’ve never been abuse by the police but I’m scared of them. The playing field is to unlevel, they can lie but I’m supposed to be truthful?

I once was sent a ticket for failing to stop at a light by the camera at the intersection. I was not even in the car. It was the ire in her car but since it was titled to me I got the ticket. How could I get a ticket when I was not the violator? They essentially ticketed the car. WTF?

If you are LE don’t take this to personal. I’m just not pleased with the system on which it runs.

By law, yes, the vehicle owner can be fined for allowing the vehicle to be used in that manner, but no conviction nor points be assigned for the reasons you state (been there, done that).

Absolutely agree - heavy handed - but given that I carry a sidearm frequently (and was in those two occasions though the topic was never raised) the potential consequences from rapid and uncontrolled escalation are simply too great for me to risk unnecessarily poking a cop in the proverbial eye.

Well said, I don’t poke authority in the eye either.

While biking in Virginia I asked a local deputy sheriff for road information. We went to the bike to get my maps and remembered I had my pistol right on top. While walking out I told the officer there was a pistol in the bag and I did have a permit. He did not bat an eye and walked right over and helped me out. We were both one of the good guys.

Absolutely the smart thing to do!
Just respectfully decline to answer all but your name & ID.

I think you watched a different video, Paul, I've seen them and also considered that unlikely to be successful.
The point of the one I posted is if you are considered a suspect in a crime, talking to police can only hurt you, never help you.

As a young hippie degenerate, I developed a distrust for the law in general. Over the years, I have softened my approach because as the Lynyrd Skynyrd lyrics state, "don't back talk the police because its his job to put you in the jail" and that is if you're being a dumba$$ and deserve it. There are good and bad in every group of people. I've learned to push the envelope a bit but never tear the danged thang open while a constable is watching. Managing a small herd of electricians is a daunting task. Imagine that you're charged with protecting the public at large and upholding the laws ( literally tons of them ), the next car you pull may be your last. Imagine the 45% stupidity rate we experience these days. Imagine that you daughter is dating a pot smoking skank band guy and your son just trashed your car. Imagine that your wife wants to live beyond your means. Imagine getting into a patrol car and having someone that knows they're in the wrong start back talking..........

Once I was a punk. Be respectful. You have no idea what the person you are addressing is going through on a personal level.

When I was in high school and thought I was all that + a bag of chips I was approached by an officer on my way to school, A group of us had been smoking weed in the alley on our way to the high school. When he asked me to put out my cigarette I flicked it into his face, he shoved me into his partner who had walked up behind me unbeknownst to me and the two of them worked me over a little not too much but just a little,

I spent the day down at the police station while they contacted my father, When I explained to him what happened, his response was I would’ve kicked your ass too.....

Not sure what this has to do with anything though....

Haha, Jim, even the knuckleheads I grew up with would never be that dumb or brave, California really is different.
