Hard Days Work

I'd have to agree with you regarding the America in terms of performance. They really have it dialed back, but it will go if you work the gear box correctly. But, the ergos were quite nice on it. And, the performance aspect actually made it a very relaxing bike to ride; very forgiving bike.

I also love the Thruxton; very FUN bike to ride. That Street Triple was just special to me, however. Man, that thing was fun to ride. If I were going to buy a pure street fighter/sport bike, that'd be the one for me. Of course, if I could, I'd have a Thruxton, a Street Triple and a Bonnie sitting next to my Tiger and T-Bird in the Garage. How cool would that be?
 
I've tried a Tiger, Thruxton and Bonnie while mine was in for service .... interesting to demo, but couldn't hold a candle to the real thing.
 
Have to agree with HellFire they do not hold a candle to a Boss Hoss(the real thing)
You are right but no one with any sense would swap a Rocket for a Thruxton(my wee fav) but it sure is a nice wee bike for zooming around.
 
You guys that discriminate, whether it be Hardleys or othere makes or models or whatever, sure miss out on some cool bikes. That's actually probably a good thing for your wallets, however. Me, I rarely meet a bike I don't like. I have to limit my purchases to what meets my needs/desires at the time. Here's a funny for you. When I first got back into riding (quit riding when our twins were born), I got a Speedmaster and liked the bike real well; just got a larger bike when the wife decided to start riding with me (got a Heritage Softail; loved the bike). As Scot said, we got to ride every Triumph model this past weekend. My least favorite was the Speedmaster. lol

Have you ever seen the Scrambler thread on the ADVrider forum? That is one tough bike..

I loved mine. Bit heavy - but I had the pleasure of a Street Triple - just cannot sing its praises enough - Colin Chapman of Lotus was right about the benefits of light weight.. makes such a difference to the way a bike feels!

No surprise the ST3 is by a country mile the better bike, but I dont want to ride everywhere like my hair is on fire anymore, duelling through traffic - so the Scrambler, perversely, would be the ideal second bike for just pootling about from my perspective.

Whats the tiger like, I havent ridden one. Did you try a Daytona? Fantastic, but too focussed for my liking.
 
Well, I'm probably biased because I own a Tiger ('09). I love the Tiger. It's got plenty of go-go (same 1050 engine as the Speed Triple and Sprint ST) and is pretty nimble. The 675 Daytona is a real nice bike. The shifting was a bit stiff and, like you said, the bike is VERY focused. You twitch and the bike goes in that direction. That's great for track day; not so much for pleasure riding. Also, the seating position is way too aggressive for me. Of course, it's a purpose built bike so I'd expect nothing less in terms of its aggressive styling.

I don't mow with a Honda or John deere even though all my neighbors do because of advertising. My Kohler has run without so much as a oil change now for 20 years and when was the last time you saw a Kohler commercial? My cars and bikes are chosen for the same reason. We own a Triumph, MINI and Mercedes ... everyone of them recieved a poor review in the popular poles, but were purchased based on my personal taste and research. They have each proven to be exactly opposite of the reviews and been great transportation. Even better, not every joe and his mother has one.
But if you like a little discrimination ... here's one for you .. ......
