Got my recall notice in the post today.....

Well, it finally came. I think I'll tuck it away with the owners manual under the seat and forgetaboutit.

Now, if I got a recall notice for the Torsional Damper Unit or the lower timing sprocket that would be another story....................:)
(Dealer went tits up last year).
Well, I draggged my bike in for the idle fix last month after the 385 recall was done one month prior. My bike never had an idle problem until the first tune was done. After that it would stall and eventually would not idle at all.
They did a 386 along with swapping out the final drive unit because I complained of a horrid groaning coming from the BLOCK.. They then discovered the final drive was ok but the TORSIONAL DAMPER was toast.
They replaced my rear tire per my request while working on the final drive. Stupid me, I thought it would save labor charge since the wheel was already off.
Not only did I get charged labor but also $15 for a bolt for the rear brake caliper which was fine when I brought it in.
When I picked up the bike it was idling but 4 people were pushing it up the snow covered driveway. When I got it home it would not start, it would even start to catch. It ran fine before they "fixed it." Two fixes later I know have an 800 pound hanger bay queen.
So now it sits in my garage while I contemplate a short sale on Ebay. My dealer won't likely go "tits up" because he sold his Harley franchise. I am going to see the guy who bought it.

Oh yes, of the 9 R3's they sold 3 have had the torsional dampers replaced. Thats 33%!

The manual does state that the caliper bolt has to be replaced whenever it is removed. I suspect that it is because it comes with a gob of loctite type stuff on it good for one use. I never bothered to replace mine though a drop of blue loctite gives peace of mind.

Must be gold plated for $15 a pop.
