Rocket Roadster 2016
Well, I am regretting buying my R3 2016, it only had 8500kms so I thought it couldnt have any issues but how wrong I was. In every gear under load I can feel something like a jutter. I dropped the sump and checked the filters nothing, dropped the oil in the diff and nothing. Spent a thousand bucks on a tune which was nothing but a waist of money with stock pipes and Air ram system. So now booked in at Peter Stevens(Triumph Dealer) for them to take it for a run to see what they think it is. $130 an hour to ride it FFS. How can something like this be possible under 10000 kms, load pretty crap quality to be honest, should of stuck with Thunderbirds.

All the rockets have roughness when you twist the throttle.
The rockets are solid mounted to the frame so no rubber mounts to cushion the engine vibration.
Of coarse yours may be different.
Try to compare and ride one at the dealers
Good luck
And merry Christmas

Could you give us a bit more info? Since you state it happens in all gears, is the judder linked to engine speed or vehicle speed? Does the bike have to be moving to feel it? Do you get it in neutral with the clutch lever released while reving the engine? How about stopped in gear with the clutch lever engaged? Just trying to determine if it is a bad tire/rim or in the clutch mechanism or pack? I can't see the dogs being bad in all gears though, but there is always a first???

One other item, have you had the final drive removed from the swing arm yet to inspect the driveshaft to final drive coupling. This is a known failure point if not greased regularly causing the splines to slip and sometimes chatter.

Hey Gregger,
If I just cruise along I dont feel it, the engine seems to purr along quite nicely, no idle issues and revs perfectly, the only time I notice this shudder or faint clunk is under a decent acceleration or with passenger and acceleration from second to fifth. I am wondering spline issues as I cant see 2-5 jumping teeth with less than 10k on the clock. As before oils werent chunky at all. Doesnt feel like clutch slip, more mechanical feel than slip

Since any rear spline issues would normally be felt under load in all gears, I would check there first. A little tricky to remove the final drive since the wheel/axle and mufflers need to be removed. The issue with the splines is that there isn't any scheduled maintenance to lube them in the manual (shame on Triumph) so they get neglected. The grease can dry out and corrosion set in especially if you are near salt water. A lot of fellows pull the final drive and lube the splines whenever the rear tire is replaced. Use a high moly grease.

Thanks, I am taking it to a Triumph dealer on the the 5th, hopefully it is external of the gearbox, although new splines doesn't sound cheap if damaged in the final drive as well as the driveshaft
