Yo!
I have a 2008 Rocket street cruiser with a hinged gas cap. The little flap that closes over
the key hole won't hinge down. Not a life crusher but I dont want to force it. I don't think the cap is replacable without replacing the entire gas tank.
Anybody run into this viagra laced lid?
have a good one,
Ron

Just the key flap? Was it working OK before? Maybe you have a bit of grit that's slipped down behind it. Can you open the cap and try to wiggle the flap a little - might loosen it if that's the problem.

Thanks a lot,

I have tried to wiggle the flap free but it feels pretty stuck. Maybe there is a spring in it's hinge that is catching. I'll try again with a little more muscle. If not I'll check out the link
you guys sent me. I will be replacing the fuel float soon so I'll have access to the gas cap
hinge from the inside.
I appreciate your help,
Ron

You do understand that you can remove the gas cap without taking the tank off the bike, don't you? It sounds like you are under the impression that you have to remove the tank.

The six screws that encircle the gas gap are what you need to remove. In fact, only 3 of them actually hold the cap to the tank.

brother...i had an issue or 2 with mine but solved it by opening lid, corking the filler whole and spraying some wd40...now i don't know what you honky yanks call wd40 but is just a spray on lube. solved my issue.

from a brother to a brother..let me say...a stuck flap is a real ****..
.always keep your flaps well lubed but careful not to spray in the hole..

hope this helps
