Went on the first organized "run" with my new R3T yesterday. Lots of questions, lots of interest and lots of compliments. Even in stock tune it will out accelerate a new HD 96 Ultra Classic without breaking a sweat. I think the guy was a tad embarrassed???Anyways HE started it.

Mike, yea, nothing like a new h-d for breakfast. All that fluff, noise and little else to back it up. I myself like suprising those sport bikers, when they're use to cruisers running like a lazy boy. Its fun, and thats what its all about.

It's an awesome responsibility Mike to have to show the moniker is such a manner but we do what we must to bring to those a little knowledge from time to time. I got into xhdskip arena at ES and surprised myself in the Pigs Trail with some sport guys.

What's bad, is the 88's will actually outrun the 96 inchers.. I believe Harley lowered the compression ratio and gave the 96 inchers a milder state of tune to meet emitions.

But, of course, 88's are just a nice snack as well..

I believe its only a matter of time before HD switches to liquid cooling for all their engines. At some point they'll have to if they want to meet emission standards.

What I found interesting was the guy I talked to actually got worse mileage on his HD than I got? He said he averaged around 33 mpg. I get around 36 (depending on how fast the fun needle climbs)

Welcome to the site Mike. Glad to see another Rocket neighborhood. I think between Tom and I, we have taught most of the other HD riders in the area not to mess with Rockets.

As for the HD's, I think that their riders feel, "If I can't be fast, I can be loud." Just a guess because I don't know any Harley riders that will associate with me and my "Jap CRAP" or "Brit ****" bikes. I can only conclude that I'm too good for them, again only pure conjecture.

Coming from a guy who used to love HD's, I can honestly say I've never heard the term "Brit ****" ever. Jap crap sure but not Brit ****. Every make has its die hard fans and there's NO convincing a HD fan his bike isn't the best but there is a certain amount of respect for British bikes amongst Harley fans. HD and Triumph have a loooong history, both have been through some rough times and are rich in tradition.

Now, the closer it gets to closing time the lower the IQ level seems to get. You didn't hear these comments on some bike night around 11 pm or so did you?
