Maybe this will help some folks out. I was removing the front wheel to change a tire and discovered that I did not have a hex large enough to turn out the axle. Here is what I did......Get a craftsman 5/8" spark plug socket, they have a hex that fits perfectly in the axle. Poke out the rubber from inside and put a 3/8" extension thru the socket into the hole. put on your breaker bar/torque wrench and wah la! Put the rubber back in when you are done.

How is it possible that I can read that, and my mind still hits the gutter?...... what the hell is wrong with me

Doesn't the hex in the stock tool kit fit it always assumed that was what it was for.

I experienced the same problem when I started the project on the 06 Std. I took a chisle that happened to have the same size hex shaft as a handle and then used a socket on it.

I had the same problem... stud scratching my head staring at my wrench tool chest.. Then spotted a long bolt I had bent at 90% to make a diff drain plug tool about a 30 years ago..

It fitted perfect and got me outta trouble....
Oh I never thro' anything away

I usually cut an Allen (Hex) key wrench to a 40mm length to take a socket and torque wrench.
