Front fork stanchion repair
Yes they do screw off but be warned.The stantions are steel whilst the fork bottoms are alloy.Water tends to get between them and they will oxidise and sieze so that when you try to remove them it can pull out the alloy threads..Best to squirt plenty of wd40 down ther first.Dont forget to undo the grub screws.They are dimpled into the thread.When i re assembled mine i used plenty of copper slip to prevent it seizing. I took mine apart because ive anodised the forks black.Triumph nicked my idea.
 
Agree with step1 ,the ones I saw where brought in for me to chase out the thread as they had picked up on disassembly and the twat hadn't removed the grub screws.
