As per title...............was pleased with myself after knocking up a free fork compressor tool from a split shaft collar and a couple of 8mm Allen bolts ,got the forks apart only 500 ml of oil in each so probably why they’re so soft.
Now the real issue, without the seals in place and just placing the upper and lower legs together there appears to be some play between the two, looking at the parts list Triumph only seem to list a complete leg assembly, can anyone confirm this is the case and if so is it possible to have bushes made?

There are no bushes, they’re integrated into the upper. Slack is required to let them flex, a totally rigid fork leg that didn’t flex would snap under braking.

What am I missing here? Are we confusing flex with play between both legs? What would be the point in me replacing head bearings ,heavier oil, uprated springs if there's play in the fork legs, in my earlier threads when I first bought the bike I complained about poor handling ,to my disapointment the head race bearings that were replaced looked to be pretty new so probably would have got way with adjusting, also the fork oil looked pretty clean, although looks like they were 165ml low in each leg.Just wondering if the previous owners been chasing the handling problem before and missed the play in the legs or gave up because of the expense?

Above the seal is another seal/bush that’s all I know

How much play is the question. If the fork seals were still able to seal then the lowers are fine. Inspect the inside of the uppers once you take the seal out to ensure everything is kosher.

If that Bush is seriously worn - than the chromed sliders must be in horrid condition.
But if it were me I would get on the phone to a good suspension company and see if KAYABA lists the piece as a spare part.

The chromed sliders look no worse for wear than any other front end I’ve seen with 25,000 miles, going with your advice and see if I can at least source the bushes, they must cross reference to something else?
