Found a solution to my big ugly backrest

Got it for $4k and my wife loves it. Definitely not a fan of heavy wind and this bike like it was today on the freeway. It really makes me wish the rocket had a reverse. Pretty smooth transmission. I miss the gear indicator that im used to on the rocket but I guess its pretty easy to wire one in. Seat is way better than the rockets but the rocket is still way more fun. All n all I'm pretty happy with this newer goldwing and I'm surprised how low the seat is, lower than the rockets seat. Older goldwings were pretty tall. Going to plate it tomorrow.
 
Well done. I sold my GTL when wife said she was done and went back to an R3 for my solo touring. Can't lie, i'll miss the comfort of the K1600, but the R3 engine has a way about it that makes a rider forget about the farkles.
 
I have a 2015 Goldwing Valkryie love the bike love the ride but the Rocket 3 storm is just a statement and a totally different machine to ride.
 
Do they make one for small guys? i want one

Surprisingly enough the gl1800 is pretty short. I was surprised because the older ones are tall. I got a 28 inch inseem and easily put my feet down

2006. With the older goldwings you want to avoid the 01-05 models due to ECM problems and frame cracking issues.
 
Just as a side thought. I’m on my second R111 Classic and my other she suffers from Scoliosis in the lower spine. So to adapt it, so she can still tag along, I did a couple of subtle changes to her perch. I fitted a 12” wide HD back pad to the Sissy bar and a set of Kuryakyn foot boards in stead of the pegs. Those two changes along with a Sheepskin cover, made it far more comfortable for her and now can manage a couple of Hundred miles in a day now..
A while back, we looked at trading in for the new R3, she took one look at the pillion perch and the foot rests, laughed and walked out the showroom. As an other couple mentioned, Triumph really are missing out on a 2500 Touring model, I can’t understand why they haven’t it’d make a killing Stateside.
 
I was able to resist for sever years because the 2500 is such a compromise as a touring cruiser. I only finally sold the k1600 and came back to the R3 because my wife's decided to quit riding with me. It is what it is, she makes a power play and I ignore the power and focus on the play.
