Sprung a leak somewhere. Haven't had a chance to look, tomorrow weather permitting. seems to be running down behind the oil tank. Hope a hose or clamp up by overflow. Now to find blue coolant, even though RED would be faster.

I actually haven't Todd. Oddly enough I work with a Daytona 955 owner who's plastic elbow broke and I picked it up at the dealers for something line .50. Hope to look one of these days when its warmer and i'm not crosseyed tired.

is it brand new? I believe some new owners claimed it dripped some substance first few days...something about shipping goo that melts off when heated

In the brief research I've done on the coolant, it appears to be a Mobil UK product. Mobil doesn't even show coolants on their site, unless I just flat missed it.

To quote the owner's manual:

Use coolant mixture containing corrosion inhibitors and anti-freeze suitable for aluminium engines and radiators. Always use the antifreeze in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer.

In an emergency, water alone can be added to the cooling system. However, the coolant must be returned to the correct mixture ratio as soon as possible.

A year-round type of antifreeze is installed in the cooling system when the motorcycle leaves the factory. It is coloured blue, contains a 50% solution of ethylene glycol, and has a freezing point of -35ºC (-31ºF).

It is not only Triumph that uses cheap plastic fittings and piping on cooling systems. Our son's wife was driving their BMW Z3 in Hawaii when a plastic fitting in the cooling system, on the back of the **** engine, broke pumping out all of the coolant between the engine and firewall. No steam or other indicator. She smelled a bit of anti-freeze just before the engine seized up. By the time she realized that the engine was overheating, the engine was toast.

Wow, that girl must've been focused, driving that Z3 like a racer cuz you'd think she'd notice an engine temp or check light come on.

After my bike was put back together this last time, she started pee'in quite a bit after hard running. Never used to do that. Maybe she's just getting old and lost some bladder control. Actually, probably just overfilled the coolant tank a bit. She stopped pee'in after I made sure the level was correct. Was worried cuz it looked like the coolant was coming out the crankcase in the rear but I guess her sphincter let loose the overflow a tad willy nilly.

Nope, just driving down the road towards the base. She just never noted that temp going up because it happened so quickly. She smelled the anti-freeze, immediately looked at the gauge and pulled off the road to shut down the engine.
The issue is why the heck would BMW used a crappy plastic fitting, and on the back of the engine. The shop that installed the new engine said it was a common failure item and replaced it with an aluminum elbow.
