just to find myself in the same, " we set our own standard" brand as the BMW, I thought I got away, with the Rocket but No.
I have owned :
2004 BMW K 1200 R
2005 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure
2006 BMW HP2 Enduro, and now 2006 Rocket III
and the bavarian way, of making bikes, i dont like anymore.
The cigarette plug ( 12V ), has allways been different on all the BMW´s that I have owned, and that is to be expected, but WHY
is Triumph´s 12V plug, a different one, than ALL the standard plugs, in the in the whole motorcycle industri ???.
I can understand that a company, that has been giving us,
the paralever and other kind of design " farts ",
has to have their own 12V plug, but why does Triumph think, that they stand out from the crowd, just by making a F#¤%¤## 12V plug different ??
I have just changed ALL my plugs, on ALL my gear,
to the "normal " 12V plug ( as used in cars ).
then I installed my new Female 12V on the Rocket,
and they are F#%%¤¤# different.
Who makes " Male " plugs, to use with the Rocket Standard 12V
thank you

Personally, I like Beemers, Beemers of the GS1200 Dual Sport variety.

Why did Chrysler, for years, install vertically tuned, non-DIN chassis radio's in their cars or why does Honda insist on offsetting the steering wheel in the CRX? Because it's about parts availability and design execution with little regard for for function. Why does Triumph insist on using cheap plastic fasteners for the brake hoses and handle loom restraints on an expensive motorcycle?

Get yourself a 3 buck Autozone plug and install it.

By the way, BMW didn't invent the Paralever rear suspension, Guzzi did, years ago.

Every marque has it's idiosyncrasies, that's what adapters and aftermarket parts are for.
