My bike has learn't a new trick and any advice would be great

once warm if If I travel any distance on a set speed say the freeway for a few minutes when I go to break for traffic the bike wants to keep going and if I pull the clutch the bike wants to idle at 1500+rpm.

Also happens if I blip the throttle whilst slowing down , if I turn the bike off then restart it goes back to around 500 rpm(for a while anyway)

Any pointers on where I should start looking

Check your throttle cables and make sure they are in spec (see manual)

Get a tuneboy and adjust/reset ISCV

Reset Adaptives.

If that doesn't work, your TPS is bad.

No personal experience, Gnome, but I think someone will maybe talk about TPS shortly??? Have you tried a 12-minute tune.... can work wonders.....

You still a likely for the piss up in the motel in March??

Thanks guys it's just come back from a service where I mentioned the issue to them but they said they couldn't find a problem or they didn't look

I'm with IDK,
have em check while you watch.
I'll bet dollars to donut holes its the TPS and they didn't even check it.
Make them check it and I bet the voltage ain't right.
It won't take them 5 minutes to check it out for you.
That or take it to a dealer that wants your business.
good luck,
let us know,
skip

Just checking the voltage at idle isn't good enough, it'll test fine every time.

This is a well documented problem and about 50 of us would be more than happy to explain it to your dealer.

As per Juggs.

They will put a meter on the primary TPS at idle and tell you it's fine, when it patently isn't.

If you check all the other things and they are OK - make a wager with your dealer.

Tell him to replace the TPS that he says is fine. If the problem is still there - you pay for the TPS. If its cured - he pays.

Lets see him put his money where his mouth is, against the experience in this forum.

Just be sure he torques the screw correctly.

(see manual)

Well I cleaned and adjusted the cables did the 12 min tune to be safe
and all seems ok (touch wood), It's only done 400km since it's last service so I'm not sure what they charged me $832 for.
