Fall '09- Rocket launch - Maggie Valley

sounds good to us..
We cant stay the night because we have people coming with us.There will be atleast 4 of us coming.

Ok I am thinking I am going to make this run. But going solo. Honey Bear has too much going on and can't go. I am thinking that I will leave Central Texas kind of early on Wednesday, Sept 23. Maybe spend night either in Little Rock or Memphis. Then leave from there kind of early the next morning (Thursday, Sept 24). Hoping to pull in to Maggie Valley that night.

Return trip probably leaving Maggie Valley kind of early Sunday, Sept 27 and doing the trip in reverse. But possible to stay and leave on Monday morning....

I am fishing for anyone that might be going similar route and days....

I can not take off work any earlier than the 22nd. Two Chicken office and other old hen has a doctor appointment.....
I am scheduled to be on-call all that week. But got one of the guys to take my overtime schedule. Hate to lose the money...but oh well it is only money and you can't take it with ya.

Got some riding in yesterday. Made pitstop at a metric dealership to look for better mirrors, discounted rain gear, better fitting glove. Walked out with new mirror and gloves. Was thinking since we have been in drought conditions maybe they might have discounted rain gear. I wanted it for the MV ride. I just don't trust the weather and wanted something move visible in heavy rains than my old blue Wally World rainsuit. At least I am closer to being ready for the trip. Really getting excited about it.
 
For you guys/gals that have already been to MV

Does anyone know if AT&T cellular gets good service there? Just checking because I will have to check in from time to time so Honey Bear doesn't worry too much about me. Thinking about bringing one of those cheap Wally World calling cards. The area of Texas I live in it is really hard to have good cell phone service due to all of the hills. So it dawned on me that the MV may be the same bad reception for cell phones. Just want to be prepared.
