Engine Temperature Sender Unit Location

Can someone tell me the location of the engine temperature sender unit on my 2006 R3. I have looked in the manual and all over the engine but can't see one

I know there must be one so where is it. I have a problem with the over temp indicator showing constantly even when the engine is cold so I want to check that all wires are still intact and there's damage no occured to the sender unit.

I believe the temp sending unit is located by the thermostat housing at the 4:00 clock position. Left front of engine above oil tank....follow the wires in that area
