I think it makes it hard to over torque them. Landcruiser diesels use them also. On the landcruisers you apply the the torque outlined in the manual and add a dab of white paint to the top of the hex,then you turn them another 90 degrees.
You could be right and I always wondered if they all stretch constantly or are your bolts torqued a little different. This may not matter when a engine is in basically a stock form. Once you get to a level where chamber pressures can be much Higher it might be better not to use something that stretches. Maybe Nev will come along and give us the benefit of his knowledge!!!!!
