have 06 r3 have taken out air intake system above engine and fitted 3 k & n filters now when i start the bike up the engine light won't go out. Not sure what I have done, any help please would be much appreciated:confused:

An OBDII code reader available at auto parts stores or online will plug into the diagnostic port and give you a trouble code. The code can be looked up and the reason it's on will be listed next to it. I never checked if 2006 had the OBDII plug next to the fuse block, I'm just assuming they have one like the later models. Maybe someone who knows about that one can verify.

The only thing directly related to the air plenum is the temp probe. If it's not plugged in or lying against bare metal it will turn on the light and store a code for it's failure. You might go back and check it along with all the other plugs that might have been disturbed during the modification.

So what did you do with the temp probe anyway? Did you mount it in one of the three filters, or leave it on top of the engine?

If the light doesn't go out on it's own you should use the OBDII plug to pull the trouble code. My light came on awhile back and the code told me it was the temp probe, it had come unplugged because I didn't make the new leads long enough. Fixed the problem with longer wires and the light went out after I deleted the trouble code with the reader.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that part, the trouble code readers have the ability to delete stored codes. Deleting the codes is what turns off the light. If you turned on the key while the temp probe or something else was unplugged it stored a code.
