any body knows what this electric coupler is supposed to be connected to, it is coming out of the blue line on the left side of bikeunder the seat beside the battery box. I do not see any thing remotely similar anywhere near this is a 2006 standard and I cannot find in the manual anything either
I asked that a while back and someone said they thought it was a connector for a plug on the extra charcoal cannister that the California emissions bikes had. There are a few under the tank for heated grips, clock and fuel gauge.
That's where the canister is located on my 2008 non-California Standard. I didn't notice if there was anything other than hoses plugged into it, but now that I'm curious I'll be sure to look close next time I have the cover off. I can't think of any reason to have an electrical connection plugged into a charcoal canister, but perhaps there is a vacuum control valve around there somewhere on canister equipped bikes.
From what I have seen it is the connection for the purge valve for bikes with the charcoal canister. Tune Boy has a system check for it on the test page.
Similar to a car the purge valve closes shortly after start up to check system vacuum. If theres a leak in the tubing or canister it will throw an engine light. after the test (must be a pressure transducer somewhere to measure it) the valve opens again (Normally open valve). and vents to the canister for cleaning the vapors.
