I'm really surprised the fuel tank blistered like that. It is a fuel tank and as such, is prone to being splashed with raw gasoline. The paint should be able to stand up to the abuse. Was the tank painted previously?
Not while ive owned it, although the touring badges were missing from the panniers when i bought it so it's a possibility?
I've had petrol spills onto it before with no problems but this was pouring out for a couple of minutes before i realised and could pull over to investigate.
It only peeled the red and silver and not the black
It was a mixture of E5 and E10, there were refinery protests and shortages down south so i had to fill up with whatever they had at the service stations.
Doesn't look like a stock color, also definitely not a urethane, probably go to a body shop and let them match it!!!
I used the colorrite jet black w/clear coat, matches perfect r3t 08.
I see the post is from 2 months ago but might help someone else, good luck

Tried a few local body shops but didn't get much joy. It's booked in on 22nd july with an airbrushing guy (mask monkey) not too far from me, to repair the damage and spray a union jack design on the tank. I'll put some pictures up when it's done.

I’m with Gregger on this one. I have spilled/ splashed gas on every bike I have ever owned and never had a paint problem like that. Hope you get a nice fix.
A few pictures of the repair on the tank, which im rather pleased with. Finally got it all back together and out for a spin after replacing the fuel filter and all hoses too
