Disassembling wire connector

I once took apart and removed the wires and pins from the plug that goes into the ECU as I had a faulty pin. I cried tears of frustration trying to get it back together.

Needed more than one set of hands. Never again.

I keep answering my own questions.

I hear ya sleeves. My wife wired my Harley bars for me. She promised to put this back together for me if I have trouble. I think I'll be fine though. I like this connector better than Harleys.

I realize this thread is a year old, but I just spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to remove the wires from the turn signal connector/harness. I couldn’t figure it out. SO FRUSTRATING!

What’s the secret to getting these out? AND - Am I able to go to a store and buy the ends to crimp onto new wires to put back into the harness?! Please advise!

Hi Germ

Ive done these as well, theres a reverse type locking barb on the connectors that when you slide the terminal and wire into the plastic plug pops up and locks the two together. You need to depress this with a jewelers screwdriver and it will pop out. We warned it can be frustrating and try not to mullah the plug or terminal. The barb is almost always on top of the terminal so you slide the screwdriver in from the back (wire end) of the terminal and pull the whole lot backwards out of the plastic plug.

I have bought all my connectors from the USA from www.cycleterminal.com, good and fast delivery to Down Under too. Buy the correct cheap crimper also and you will not regret it (our work electrician confiscated mine it was so good).

The terminals you need are 1HB-050 Nt Male and 1HB-050 Nt Female (well they were for my 05)

I have pictures but am away from home and cannot upload them sorry

Sorted

You have to depress the little raised tongue spring with a jeweler's screwdriver or suitable pin blade needle etc. to withdraw the wire and attached pin from the plug body. Very important to draw a diagram AND label each component as you dismantle!

As you replace them the tongue spring clicks back into place to lock the pin or receiver back in to the plug casing. Make sure you test that each pin is locked in by giving a GENTLE tug on the wire.
