I kept it—I always keep the parts I replace—and in this particular case, there are plenty of special connectors and cables that might come in handy again!

cables yes, connectors - nothing special about them, they are all available on electronics parts website for 10usd or so. For instance, The instrument cluster connector is widely used as oil/gas connector in industry.
