I received my Corbin oval back rest yesterday. It is all leather and looks brand new. I paid $142.50 for it on ebay and for some reason got free shipping for using PayPal. I thought it was a pretty good deal.

proud for you gasket, good find, good buy. I got the new adjustable riders backrest off ebay, but it only fits the seat with the square cutout.
So now I either gotta pay $350. more for the seat it fits, or just blow it off and figure it was a learning error. anyway, congrats on yours :D

Oops, I didn't know there were different styles. That could have been an expensive lesson for me too had I gotten the incorrect one. I was just lucky....

It arrived with a screw in the bottom of the bracket. I'm not sure what it is for, perhaps to adjust the way it sits in the mount. I'll have to pull the seat and see if this is what it is for.

The little screw on the bottom allows the backrest to tilt forward or backward and along with the small screw on the back of the oval rest which allows it to pivot also let you adjust it for comfort! ( I too appreciate the education on styles, I want to upgrade the pillion backrest - now I know to specify the square shaft ). :)

Rich, if you want the one with the square shaft, I just happen to have one, I ain't gonna use. Let me state this is the drivers adjustable backrest and not the pillon backrest. If I stated otherwise in the previous post, my appologies, I wasn't trying to mislead anyone. If you can use it, PM me, if not I understand.

Gasket, did you every get that corbin stuff from the guy in Ga for your son?

He got out of motorcycles before I could ever take him up on his discount... shame wish I could find another dealer willing to match his prices. starting to think about beatles and fairings again...I don't think the wife is going to have any problems finding another job so I'll be keeping the rock..

No, I sent him a note explaining what I wanted and for whom and got back a pretty cursory response. He got out of the MC accessories business, when he sold his Rocket I believe. I ordered my seat direct from Corbin and paid full retail. I think one can do better. The back rest seemed to be a pretty good price.

I hav e apassenger backrest for the Corbin touring I rarely use. I don't want to sell it, but if you ever want to "borrow" it, I would gladly loan it to you! I am in the process of building a luggage rack that will slide in and out of the Corbin backrest support with a tour pac attached to it. Hopefully it will work.

You'll probably be able to patent that one John. I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.
