Hello from Calgary Alberta Canada. I have been reading lots of the info on this site, so thought I better say hello and introduce myself.

I just picked up a 2011 Roadster after selling my 2003 Vmax I owned for 4 years. Attached is a pic of the old bike, I will get a pic of the new bike in the next couple of days. The vmax was/is a great bike, but I much prefer the rocket already. Handling/fuel range/comfort are much better on the rocket, and I should be able to convince the Mrs. to join me for a ride on this one!

I finished my first trip and nearly 2000 KM (1300 miles) on the new wheels this weekend, I am very impressed. The bike is stock aside from some bolt on accessories; sissy bar, windshield, etc. This bike is fantastic and I cant wait to get some more miles on it. It definitely draws it's fair share of attention, but for good reason I suppose! My next mod is going to be the handlebar risers, having the bars back a couple of inches will be perfect.

My only issue so far is what sounds like the decel popping that I have read about, and what sounds like the odd backfire. It isn't loud, but it is what sounds like a pop from under the seat and also only happens on decel or when I blip the throttle a little. I am not sure if this is a warranty issue or not, as most have said it seems to be fairly common, and only fixed by replacing the exhaust & adding a tuner / time on the dyno. Anyways, any input appreciated while I dig through this site further to see what I can find.

Cheers,

Jason

Welcome from Doununder. Very wise move to get a Rocket. If your bike's standard and quite new(ish) then you should just drop into your dealer and get them to check it; you'd still be under warranty so if anything's wrong you'd be covered. My bike sometimes (rarely, but it does happen) does something similar - not under the seat because I have triples - but only when it (the bike) is cold and the the air isn't warm - if you know what I mean. Never does it when the bike's warmed up. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it, especially as there's a good chance you'll be wanting to do something to the exhaust and intake and then get the proper tuning done and then......... :D

Firstly a Big Welcome from Auss:cool:
most model years will do it but I must confess mine was a pain when I first got but the dealers have thier hands tied and apart from checking for exhaust leaks the only thing they could do was put in the Triumph dealer TORS tune which made very little difference, My suggestion is to put up with it untill your are ready to get it retuned by a dyno guy or one of several plug and play options I have cured mine with with a PCV + AT because it ability to be infinatly adusted through out it fueling map there are others out thee like the Dobeck which allows tunning in three throttle ranges Hi, Middle and Low similar to old school carbies Richard has sucses with it in curring his poping as he has said to a degree, where as the PCV with the optional Auto Tune checks the exhaust gases 196 times a second and adjusts the fueling.. bit like having the bike on adyno with a little guy in there making adjustments as you ride, but and there is always a but it is twice the price of the Dobeck but in My Opinion well worth it. My bike is silky smooth when ridden gently it just purrs but give the throttle a twist the the animal comes out and shes up on the back wheel or spining the 9inch wide car tyre... yup I love my bike and any little Quirks your might be experiencing now will almost be always be fully cured by any one of us here :D

Welcome Mate

Another BIG welcome from Australia, I too have the R3R (2010) great bike, I was looking at the VMax as it looks like it has some mongrel about it and it does go hard. But ONE ride on the R3R and that was it, love at first sight.
Only thing I have done to date is the fly screen, hagon nitro rear shocks and cruise control.
Plenty more mods to come I feel.

We are planning a trip to Canada for Christmas 2013. Might see you there:D

Again welcome

Welcome from Ohio. Congrats on the new ride. The search function is most effective on the forum as nearly every possible topic has been discussed in detail at several points in the past. Ride On.

Gday and welcome to the site. great first post mate. many of the guys on Rockets toyed with vmax and boulevards and ended up here.

i considered the 3 bikes and ended up with a Roadster. mine did the same (popping under seat) since new with tors and tors tune from stealership. apparently not an issue as long as you don't fit foam filters. i have done a little work to my bike so since the custom dyno tune this issue doesn't seem to have resurfaced.

i don't know, (I'm sure some of the guys hear can explain this properly) has something to do with fuel mapping, blipping throttle along with primary and secondary butterflies position. blah blahs blah

enjoy falling more and more in love with every ride.

Another Ozy Welcome from Perth downunder..

Even my 05 used to backfire on throttle blips occssionally.. Since I installed the PCv-AT modules all Decell and BF have completely gone.

Enjoy the ride and the Grins :D
