It seems that if you have a later lifter shaft and standard springs you stand a chance......early lifter shaft with anything you could be in for trouble!

From what Warps said I'm going to order the plates from MTC with uprated springs.

My bike is an early 05, while I'm there should I be putting the later lifter shaft in?

Fridge, for the price of each I would buy them just in case. lifter shaft, Lifter piece , Lifter shaft return spring, and cover gasket. Unless you have time then you can tear her down and evaluate it.

Right, clutch slip is starting to get worse so I'm gonna have to take a chance on the EBC kit with uprated springs as it will be here by Wednesday and I have a run this weekend.

Local dealer doesn't have the lifter shaft or lifter in stock either so going to have to hope they are in ok condition too. :?

Will report back on the kit itself after I've got it in there.

Nothing like leaving things until the last minute.

Fitted the clutch Friday morning then took of on a club run about midday.

500 miles later and the EBC kit seems quite good. The uprated springs are noticeably stiffer on the lever, about the same as my Harley was.
The plates have much wider friction pads than the Triumph plates with less gaps so more actual material on the plates.

Had it up to 130ish several times, no sign of slip, nice sold feel.

I guess time will really tell but can't complain so far.

did you install the full kit, i.e., steels, friction, and springs?

Friction plates (CK5624) and spring kit (CSK118)

What were the old ones looking like? in particular, the springs. could they be reused with the newer plates so as to forgo any escalation in wear to the clutch shaft?

The springs looked fine but I doubt you would be able to tell any difference between new and old without a spring tester.
They do say replace the springs every time you replace the clutch so if you don't fancy the uprated ones it may be advisable to replace them with new OEM ones.

Didn't bother measuring the wear on the old friction plates, just hoofed them in the bin.
