Hi all
Just changed my clutch cable position which meant undoing my cable from both ends. Now when it is connected there is no pressure on clutch handle and of course bike wont start. What am I missing?
OK @kenne I have a couple questions so we can sort this out. First if there is no tension on the clutch cable when you grip it you might need to adjust it some and if there is not enough up top then you probably need to adjust the lower outer sheath to make the sheath longer. Now you say and of course it won't start which in this case if your clutch cable is to long and not adjusted as if it did and you tried to shift her you would not like the bucking she would give you.
So does the neutral light come on? if not and your side stand is down she will not start when in gear. This is normal, Now if everything is right and the side stand is up she would normally start in any gear once you pull the clutch in. This is true even if the clutch cable is laying on the garage floor because the clutch lever is still actuating the clutch safety switch. Of course if she is in gear she will lounge forward this way which can be nasty.
So first verify neutral light is on and she is not in gear by rolling her back and forth. At this point whether the side stand is down or not does not matter. If you have neutral see if she will turn over after you squeeze the clutch lever. And let me know , You do have all the gauge lights, sweeps and head lights don't you?
Thanks Warp,
It was all in the adjustment I didnt realise there was another adjustment above the clutch spindle. All good to go for a 5am ride tomorrow.
