The fibers and cover and springs installed. My question is, before I put the front cover on. I have tried pulling on the lifter. It moves in and out. But if i pull on real hard. Is it supposed to move out and compress the springs. This is all new to me. I was wondering how it works. Or when you pull on it. It does not move at all. Or when I place the cover on and the rod connected, does it just have more leverage?

There is NO WAY you will compress those springs without SERIOUS mechanical advantage (levers).

You've got 2 levers to multiply the torque to compress the springs...if you can compress them by hand we'll just high five if we ever meet
