no problem Pete just remember the object here is to not have the lifter shaft and lifter piece in pressure contact with each other when not enguaging the clutch. This will prolonge the life of both pieces and the life of the clutch disc components especially in the high gears where wear can happen easier do to slipage . You can also feel the freeplay or distance to contact at the lifter shaft crank arm (by hand no wrench) to insure there is free play if needed.

Thanks for the info Warp. One other question though. When you pull out on the cable to measure the gap will the lever on the other end of the cable at the engine move or stay still?

now grab the cable and pullit out to measure the gap between the ferrel and the adjuster nut



note the gap distance and adjust to the 2-3 mm free play
