Calling Windvest Owners

The roadster screen has to go.

I've been looking at 16x16" Windvests on evilbay and those to pictures here in the gallery. They are listed at a considerably cheaper price than direct from Windvest--I feel much better about $250 than $450. None of the ones listed on ebay are listed for the Rocket III, but they all look exactly the same as the ones I've seen on Rockets. They fit 1" handlebars and they don't have any spacers between the bracket and the screen (like my America does).

Is there any reason a Windvest for, say, a Honda VTX (example), shouldn't fit my bike? Or am I missing something, for example, the location of the holes in the screen?
 
If the spread on the handlebars is the same, it should fit.
If it's not the same, you can always change to bars out to whatever the windshield does fit,
say a VTX or harley.
Just make sure you like the feel of the bars for whichever bike the windshield fits,
cause you might be changing em out...
 
If you call Windvest directly, I'll bet that their customer service person (the owner's wife, I believe) can get that answer for you.

BTW, I have the mounting brackets for the 16"X16" Clear, which came off of my Honda VTX C model. If you find out that it will work, I know that they will sell you a replacement screen at a pretty decent price and I'd be happy to sell you the handlebar mounts for a very attractive price. They are in pristine condition. I also have their leather pouch which is made to go behind the screen, suspended from the mounts.
 

Can you measure the distance between the brackets that clamp to the handlebars? That should tell me what I need to know. I'm assuming the holes on those brackets are for 1" bars. I know shields are available on ebay. But I will contact Windvest.

Yes, the handlebar clamps are 1" in diameter and the brackets and clamps are 6 3/4" apart, inner dimension, and 7 1/4" apart on center.
 
Hmmmm, that may not work. The Flanders site says the Rocket III stock center clamp area is 5-1/4". I'll have to measure when I get home.
 
I spoke to Windvest directly, John and they said "no go", so I guess I'll buy the Cee Bailey replacement shield and sell the whole shebang over on the VTX owner's site.
 
Was told when I bought mine that there was a difference in the handlebar mounts if you had risers. The windvest is a nice piece! I like that it tends to blend in with the scoot and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb or makes it look like a cop bike. Just enough wind block to reduce the buffeting on the highway yet lets some air through in the heated months.
