British torture device.

The large Airhawk fits great on the bike, though it does "tighten the curve" of the stock seat, it steals some room by filling the "seat bucket". The curved profile of the seat doesnt make it an ideal fit for the Airhawk, but if you adjust it right it should still do good things. There's also the Airhawk R which has cutouts where the family jewels go to put less pressure on the scrotum and taint, which some guys have a real issue with on bike seats.

My new Mustang seat has a much flatter profile than the stock seat and my dusty old Airhawk that I had put away actually fits this better. Which is good to know just in case, I've only done about 1-hour runs on the new seat thus far and it was pretty good, no major asspain, but not sure what happens when I do 8.

But better to under-inflate the Airhawk than overinflate. It's supposed to have just barely enough air in it that it evens out the pressure against the seat and eliminates the hotspot under the tailbone.

I am currently about half way done with my maiden voyage on the R3 Touring. I bought my R3 from the Boise Indian store. ( They sell a brand of MC called an Indian. You can not purchase live Indians native or otherwise. That is called slavery. Slavery is bad.) Anywho as I devour the miles on my 7 hour journey I am making a mental list of what to do to the R3 first. Surprisingly trying to make more power is not close to the top of the list. In stock form this bike pulls hard and hauls ass. That brings me to the topic at hand. MY ASS HURTS. No I do not have a gay lover. (No offense if you do. I couldn't care less) The stock seat sucks! I'm not sure if Corbin is for me. I have heard they are good if you are big. I are big. 6 foot and 300 pounds big. Actually I weigh more than that but it's between me and Jenny Craig as I sit here and write this sitting in a KFC booth in Winnemucca, NV. Any who Every time my tail bone and psiatic nerves scream at me I just blip the throttle and I grin through the pain. Love and kisses you animals! NORM
Norm, I am 6' 255 lbs I love my Corbin. I had another Corbin years ago on a Suzuki 1400 Intruder that began my love affair with Corbin seats. Two trips from northern Ky to central Fl and all I had to stop for was gas and chow.
Had an Ultimate seat on my 2000 Honda Valkyrie and it sucked. no better than the stock seat.

How durable is the airhawk? Is it good for several seasons?

I'd say so, it's pretty high quality stuff. Better be, for that kind of money.

Check out this page at Revzilla, as always there's a great video showing the product.

Airhawk Seat Pad

It seems like they've abandoned the Neoprene construction in favor of polyurethane though, I wasn't aware of that. Should probably be pretty decent quality anyway.

I can't attest to the durability of the Airhawk because I only used it on one or two long haul trips. I met riders who have a lot of miles on thme though, one who rode from New York to our Lake Tahoe Rocket event years ago. Again, you need to be mindful of what I mentioned and what cr0ft experienced.

On the airborne tour, I met quite a few of the G2 staff on 18th Airborne Corps, including the G2 himself, when we were doing the Haiti invasion planning. 18th AB was the JTF commander. My son wanted to go Airborne like his uncle and ultimately did. The G2 got his orders changed from the 25th Inf Div after jump school to the 82nd 1-325. The Deputy G2 like the colonel was a great guy but at 20 years and many jumps suffered many permanent injuries. He had a noticeable limp and was in pretty much constant pain. He warned me that my son could wind up the same and he paid for it on a jump that went bad with a partial chute malfunction on a low level night jump. The Army sent him to college though and he is now a major and a ROCKET rider. I told the G2 that my dad had served in the 85th Mountain Infantry in WWII, my brother was Army, my brother-in-law and now my son wanted to Go Army. He just smiled and said as a Navy guy how did I go so far off track. Funny.

Just a little history for you "Airhawk" is a subside ray of a large company that makes specialised pressure area care mattreses and wheelchair seat pads for the Aged care industry they are very durable and can with stand a lot of abuse, the Airhawk seat pads are a small slice of pie in a big company

ROHO appears to have sold the Airhawk bit off. It's now owned by the same people who make Danny Gray seats. I knew Danny Gray makes seats with integrated Airhawks, but that might also explain why they went from the more expensive neoprene to polyurethane across the board. The cushions should function the same though, but...

Oh well, there's still a 60 day not-many-questions-asked return policy on these. As long as the cushion is in as-new condition and not damaged you can return it to where you bought it within two months.

I just checked out the Danny Gray site. It doesn't look like they make seats for our bike.

Nope, they don't. Or rather, they do but then you're talking a custom project from start to finish and you have to take your bike there and leave it while they build it. The cost would probably be noticeable. :)
