Big City Thunder baffle question

Skip, when you say the exhaust end of the pipe, do you mean the exit of the mufflers?

There is no way the baffles will fit into the exhaust end of the mufflers on the R3T Jardines, they are way too wide there. Mine are installed in the muffler end of the crossover pipe. So, on the R3T with Jardines you do need to remove the mufflers to access the baffles.

Oh, and according to conversations with Big City Thunder, it doesn't matter which direction you install the baffles, they will work the same. I installed mine cone facing the rear as I didn't want the baffle any closer to the bend in the crossover than necessary. The way its installed on mine, the majority of the cone portion extends into the front of the muffler.

Yes, I wanted a pipe on each side, or else would have got the D&D's. My right muffler is welded to the Y pipe. The entire pipe system is only 3 pipes, the header, Y/right side, and left side.

Skip, I tried to see if I could go up the back end, and the baffle is about 1/8 inch wider than the existing baffles. I know what the directions say about the cone direction, and its unclear, so I asked Jim at Big City, he told me 3 times the cone points away from the engine. Anyway, I cant be the first person to have this problem! About to call Jim back.

Bummer....

Spoke to Jim at Big City, he said to spin the baffle around right where it is and secure it. I pointed out that would expose the left muffler to 2 baffles and the right one to just 1, he said thats no problem, Harleys have been doing that for years, and that it would give me a range of sound. We shall see tonight.

Would love to hear from anyone else that had this problem. Thanks for the input guys.

So the 2nd baffle would only fit in between the header and header pipe. I had to cut about 1 inch off the wide end of the baffle to make it fit. Couldnt secure it with the screw but its surely not going anywhere, was a tight fit and doesnt vibrate.

I honestly dont notice much of a reduction in noise. Its cool though, the biggest production engine on 2 wheels should sound like it right?

yea Harry,
sorry I didn't explain it very well.
6" up from the exit,
cone facing towards the motor.
Had to measure the inside diameter of the end of the exhaust
and just ordered the right one.
hope this helps.
skip
They are a good baffle and give back the torque you loose.
kinda pricey, but worth it to me...
