Be vigilant, be safe

The leaf colors aren't even changing yet. Apple's are being harvested now. Apple Festival is Labor Day. Danger Danger Danger

I see people that age looking down at their cell phones too.

It's risky business no matter how how you look at it. Sadly...if it's in your DNA and if you like the rush like some kind of addict, it hard to give it up.

Someday...maybe.....

Yes, it is a part of us and no, like you, I won't be giving up the motorcycle pastime until I'm physically unable to do so. **** the cagers, full speed ahead.

It's dire out here too at the moment. Folk who usually take the bus or metro - pack up the car and head off to "their village" for the annual hol's. Add the odd weekend gypsy for good effect. After an hour or so they have no ability to concentrate on the road. It's simple lack of practise.

That said some of the riders I see are really asking for trouble - I took "La Osita" for a quick run yesterday.
Had to come home - because I knew I was going to see somebody come a cropper. Later heard that 2 bikes had clipped each other.

The couple that died were in their mid 40's. Such a waste.

On the way home from the Bremerton Raceway bike event yesterday, I was coming into the little drive-through area of Gorst, merging onto the main highway, and a SUV drove out from under an overpass on the left, crossing in front of me. I braked lightly but then saw one of those massive jacked up pickups waiting to do the same. My internal "yellow light" went on and, sure enough, he pulled out right in front of me and I had to grab the binders to avoid T-boning him.

As I came to a stop I raised my left arm as in "What the heck's the matter with you IDIOT". He never even looked at me, keeping his eyes straight ahead. I then noticed his little girl-child in the passenger seat who saw me, thought I was waiving at her, and started waving back at me. Of course the old grandpa heart melted and I turned my "idiot" gesture into a friendly wave. She kept smiling and waving until her idiot father pulled into the parking lot on the right.

I started follow him in to tell him he almost killed me but thought better of it; not with his child l in the truck.
