Back Up Bike-Ducati Diavel

RIII

BOLLOCKS! Why don't you look and see if I did before you shoot your mouth off.....My nick is the same three....One post....Side cover gap question....That is it!

People on this forum have MORE THAN ONE BIKE. Wow...if you own more than ONE bike that ROCKET does that make you a traitor?

You guys need to back off and leave it alone. I am serious..You too Art...You have been on me solid "antii Diavel" since I started the thread.

So I can not have a second bike? I got a new Diavel from Charleston yesterday. The Rocket is a perfect Muscle Bike but there has been some tangential bashing toward me and I do not appreciate it. ALL I SAID is the Diavel is my back up bike while I get my Rocket fixed and when I am not cruising on the highway.

You guys need to learn from Scott (warp). He is helpful with out the acrimony and sarcasm about whether I want to but a second Bike.

Me getting a Diavel DOES NOT THREATEN THE REIGN OF THE ROCKET!

RIII...-R...Why did you have to instigate?...Before yesterday when I had found my back up Diavel I was not going to get one as they are mostly gone (2012 new). Nope...you gotta "put me down to raise yourself up". Guys like you make people want to get away from Rockets due to your sniping. Be helpful like Warp and make a difference....Why start needles conflicts? You too Art...Be a friend not a clique member.

I dont think RIII was trying to instigate anything, I think he was serious that he thought the Ducati was a good deal. I thought so too. That is why I was going to try to get the black one. I would have to avoid my wife for a few weeks somehow but I would have a nice Ducati for a great price.

I do agree with you about the narrow minded Rocket owners. Its like you are an evil human if you even would consider looking at any thing but a Rocket. Anyway congrats on the bike from Charleston. Did you get a similar deal as the 2012?

JUST buy what you like I will buy a ZX14 and you buy a DIAVEL and then we will both have the bikes we like and thats what counts I test ride and compare all the bikes years ago we did the testing for CYCLE GUIDE and we had to compare all the bikes thats what they wanted head to head comparisons like THE SUPERBIKE SHOOTOUTS and it still goes on today and lots of fans are pissed off because the bike they love gets its azz handed to it . so the answer is just ignore all that and buy what you want nobody cares and youll be happy with your new 4 year old bike at a lowball price

THE Diavel makes about 130 RWHP compared to the ZX 14 that makes 194 RWHP so there is a big difference in performance

Yeah its a POS....zero to 60 2.6 a

I did..Time for you to get that ZX14. Talk is cheap and there has been alot of talk of excess Diavels and 10K ZX14s you knew of , were asked by Mexican and myself-and never posted. Time to get to reality.
Buy one...I will race you pinks at Deals Gap on my woeful and flawed Diavel......Then you can sell the Diavel and pay your note on the ZX! Like I said ..Talk is cheap. Let us settle this on the road!

I wasn't comparing the Diavel to the ZX-14, I was comparing it to the Vmax, which I'm sure makes considerably more power than the Diavel too...

True....And considerably leave the road in a fiery crash at the first sharp curve chasing the Diavel. ZX14 is the drag strip king...I want a cruiser and the Diavel is the fastest Ducati. The VMAX is the power king but does not have the correct geometry to attack corners at a fraction of the speed of the Diavel.

Plus..The Diavel has "soul". Like the Rocket....Who wants a Nipponese ZX14 unless you are blasting BUSAs at the strip?

The VMAX beats the Diavel in the quarter mile by .08 seconds....

I will take the Handling with the speed rather than the terror of leaving the road on A VMAX as its geometry is not superbike DNA like the Diavel and the ZX14.

The Rocket is the best bike hands down with the Diavel 2nd......Both have "soul' and are not being thrashed by every 18 yr old that drops the jap cash on a ZX14 without a prepaid funeral....The VMAX is a straight line bike IMO...

I love the Rockets handling for a 700 lb bike, Much rather have that than a VNAX if I have to do any flicking of the bike.

The ZX14 is for the drag strip. You can not ride that without being cramped up after an hour...Like a Busa or a R1.

Ducati nailed it with crossing a cruiser with a superbike power and handling.

Triumph nailed it for the best single bike made with the Rocket....

Actually the reason I like the ZX14 it is comfy withe the bar risers and aftermarket seat and its smooooth and handles and stops and is more comfortable for me than the DIAVEL I like the NIPPONESE superduper bike with its almost 200 RWHP that will runs away from the DUCK with its 130 HP thats not in the same league BUT like I said you should buy the DUCK I dont like the noisy DUCATI engine rattle either sounds like a trash can full of beer cans the ZX14 has a very quiet super smooth engine and it handles great also and its not cramped if you use the bar risers and the comfy after market seat SO thats why they make and sell all these different bikes to appeal to the different riders I like my Rocket best for cruising I had it out today and its running great THE DIAVEL is not comfy for me and doesnt have the HP to hang with the SUPERBIKES it needs 50 more HP just to hang in with the fast guys and you cant road race on public streets unless your STUPID LOL

Well my Clutch is kaput on my R3 and when it was not that is was something else....Long to short she has sat on the Paddock stand more often than not as I am not uber handy with spanners and this was the first bike I bought used with 18K miles.

So I am sitting here having ridden maybe 1000 miles since December with 8 wks of it being down time with mechanical probs and who knows what going forward. **** I am blathering....I will get to the point.

I have a change to get a New 2012 Ducati Diavel In either Black or Red for 10K and am seriously considering it.

Any of you guys ridden one?

10K seems like a good price.

I know they are finnicky bikes but I am good for two years as these bikes have not been registered yet.

It is a different type of darksiding:)

Cheers....Greg

I rode a friends Diavel last weekend. It is a lovely bike.

It has great torque and is bloody fast. It handles better than any bike I have ridden. The riding position is very comfortable for the type of bike it is.

I wouldn't want to ride it across the country, but it is great for a days ride. You sit in the bike rather than on top like the Rocket.

They are totally different bikes. I would like to have a Diavel to blast around the hills. The Rocket suits me better as my riding has slowed down. I would ride the Diavel if I wanted to ride fast all the time. Both bikes keep me grinning after a ride.

I gusss im a traitor:(
I have a similar collection a 500 NINJA a Carpenter 1000CC ZX9 a Honda 95 VFR 750 2012 a 1995 GSXR 1100 a 2012 250 HP SILVERBACK a 2009 Rocket CLASSIC and many many more so you know Im CRAZY TOO

I joined a group of riders at the local Triumph/ducati/ktm/mv agusta stealership a few sundays ago and about 1/2 the bikes were Diavel's and those guys didn't look like there was any buyers remorse going around. I read a review comparing the R3 and diavel and the duc walked away from our beloved. I bought my Storm and joined some Triumph forum and got so much hate that like you I asked why? and one guy replied "We're an old lot Steve and we don't like change". I think the R3 is the best 'cruiser' on the market and I see the diavel as more of a standard and a fine one too. I didn't marry the first girl I got sweet on and there's no reason to be branded to 1 machine especially now with more company's competing for our diminishing reserves. I'm sure if you paint your new steed green Art will forgive you.

Amen! Each bike is so different....I like the Rocket better as it is more Comfortable and plenty MEGA fast...But the Diavel is OFF THE CHAIN
with that Testeretta 11 V and it is a raucous bike, No fun below 2 grand rpm as it needs to be let loose..The Rocket is in the GROOVE and is silky at 2500rpm...The Diavel you ride when you are angry and want to blow some steam for 100-200 miles. The Rocket is just and all around joy and still top dog as the BEST BIKE....

Who is this Bursig guy that just nailed me 575 dollars for a portable stand? I would never spend 500 on a stand but sticking 3 cars and a Roclet and the Diavel makes it necessary to make it high movable in the garage....I wish they made a beefy one for the Rocket!

BURSIG Center-Lift Stand

Happy Memorial Days guys and ride safe!

Cheers....Greg
