Back Up Bike-Ducati Diavel

OK then.

I've been kicking the idea about getting a BMW K1600 GTL. Will never happen probably. I'm guessing it has a sports bike feel with comfort added. Never rode anything like this so I couldn't say exactly how the bike acts. I would have to remove the trunk at set it to the side.

Inline 6 cylinder
160 hp and 129 lb-ft torque
Adaptive headlight
Much more......

Touring Sport near you in Greenville sure has the inventory but those guys are not deal cutters...The 1600 is gonna cost you 26000- They are selling 15 Rocket Tourings for 15....I have ridden the1600 and it is wicked fast but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to maintain and I love the "soul" of the Rocket and the Diavel....These BMWs are so smooth...its like you are not, to me, part of the bike. Great Dealer tho!

We will meet as they will be doing my Ducati maintenance...This dealership has STELLAR TECHS....

Good luck with the 1600..!

I have no doubt about the feel because I feel the same way getting on a 750 cc after the Rocket. However, I can't imagine the BH has handling that compares to the Rocket for the sweepers, and especially, switchbacks. I'm sure it feels like a beast though. I think the Rocket is about as big and heavy you can go while maintaining surprisingly good handling. Having said that, I've never ridden a Hoss so I don't have personal experience with it.

The gtl has been out awhile now so deals on used ones are out there, The estimate for the 18,000 mile service is $1200. I got it for 2 up and cross country riding and it excels there but I miss my R3s for everyday riding. As for the gtl being fast I get asked that whenever we go out with the hd crowd and I just say that's not the reason to buy one of these bikes. The gtl is also limited to 135 mph because of luggage the gt has a higher top speed. The connie and even fjr may be faster on the straits but the bmw can really handle and the ess blows away the roadsters suspension. It does have cruise control for wimps like me, a few other goodies to make the GWr's drool.

Triumph Phil and I went and test rode the BMW 1600 the dealer let us take it for over an hour and we traded back and forth with the Rockets and it was OK but I like the rocket much more for our type of riding and we also went and rode the Diavel as I said I like to test all the interesting new bikes ya never know ya might fall in love with one and then I will buy one Im not stuck on any one brand I try them all

I concur...The gl is 10K more than the 2015 Touring and not worth it IMO.....If you want a FJR feel......Look for a Sub 5000 mile ST1300 ...The State Police use them for a reason...The FJR is too sporty and less tourng and the Concourse in meh next to a Honda ST 1300

My 2007 ST1300 was blazing fast and I bought mine with 1700 miles for 7K with the paneurpean top box and Hard Cases(No Givi Jugk) and that bike was an awesome sport tourer and reliable.

Still would take the Rocket any day for a touring and sport touring bike.

YEP I rode the ST1300 it was OK but I didnt fall in love or lust I find all those fully faired touring bikes blazingly Frigin HOT as Hell for summer riding NO thanks waaaaay too hot for me The Rocket you can change wind screens or not use one if you choose not to that day or whenever its nice to be able to set the bike up for the different seasons BUT Iwas impressed by the BLAZINGLY FAST ZX14 KAWASAKI it will leave all those bikes for dead its that fast BUT my 2012 CARPENTER SILVERBACK is even faster and I like riding and cruising on the big comfy beast

10k for a new old stock with warranty Diavel vs fixing a used bike that has gremlins...... sold, wouldn't even think twice on that, would buy her on the spot.
