What would be your view on dual clutch trans, are they auto, semi auto, automated manual or what :)

they are automatic
one clutch works one set of gears 1,3,5 and the other set works 2,4,6 the rest of the gears
the problem is the clutch dust gets in the actuators and sticks the actuators s then you have a malfunctioning transmission
i am to old to buy the special tools and to learn the prosess of build the unit anyway i am not fond of building a trans that i can not look customer in the eye and tell them it is good for 100,000 miles.

While I do not find a way to read the article, I have to admit that I have DCT in my cars since 12 years and I never had any problem - and every car had more than 100.000 miles on the counter when it left.

And sometimes I even miss my X-ADV...
