Does any body make the cut down version of the bear claw to suit the K&N conversion.

Seems like quite a few folk have fitted the K&N's so just wondering if anybody's doing it in carbon fibre or summat

OK Juggs, now I am confused. Flip sells one type that he says will fit under a bearclaw. I want them to be exposed because it looks thoroughly bad. Dubleflush posted pics of a really trick carbon fiber half claw he makes with tripple K&Ns and pre-filter covers.

What models other than Flips are being used on the Rockets?

I'm going to be trying these out, which will require a different sort of BC modification.

The ones that I have, the RU-2780 (I think it is) just seem too small to me and I want something a little more... out there when I rat this thing out.

Mike, the RX-4040-1 is another K&N X-Treme filter and it has a 4" outside diameter base.

That's good info John, I neglected to look at the outside base diameter of the RX-3800 which is 4.5", but, it has a 20 degree flange angle to it.

Maybe I could stack it offset, mount the filter direct the TB furthest to the rear and bring them out further toward the front.

The flange length is 3" so I could conceivably make that work but there isn't a whole lot of wiggle room on the mounting surfaces, unless I cut into the flange to get it lower on the TBs.

I wonder how the RC-3680 would fit since it's a tapered oval, big ****er though, 6 inches long and no angled flange so I'm worried about my knee hitting it all the time.

Maybe the SN-2520 or SN-2510...

Decisions, decisions.

Well Marcus, you and John are obviously way ahead of the game than me on this but I am open to all options. With that said, I don't want to have to fool with modifying/bushing mounts etc. I am looking for a good bolt on set of K&N triples that will do the job and look right.

Dublflush, where are you. :?:

Sound info guys, base diameter of 4.5" would make it a heck of a tight squeeze, just throw the bearclaw away and get some rain covers, maybe RX-4040 would be easier to work in with the bearclaw', either way well worth it. Juggs I also have the RU-2780, they are ok to around 160 hp but are to small to flow above and are certainly the bottle neck in my bike , after many dyno pulls I found she hit the wall at around 165 cutting the top's out of them then re trimming with more fuel gave me 4 horsepower consevatively, I think John raved about the 4040's many moons ago, do it and retune. Or you could just stick some foamies on and hope she dont backfire to often.
