Ant invasion!!!

Don't know about ants but I had mice eat the insulation off the wiring on my 1100 Suzuki years ago. Put the key in it and turned it on and let the smoke out a very expensive fix needed a complete wiring harness. One thing I've learned over the years about all things electrical if you let the smoke out of it, it's usually had it.

I read some where that at one time, certain vehicles had electrical tape, that had a sugar based adhesive, that the ants, rats, squirrels, etc. loved to chew on.

A few months ago squirrels ate the wiring harness out of my Honda Ridgeline. After I had it repaired the mechanic handed me the section he replaced. It had clearly been eaten by the squirrels....including the special tape that all of the wire was wrapped in that had graphics of a rodent with a circle around it and a line through it.

With 25 years in automotive service never had ants create electrical issues. Think we have a coincidence.

Had an ant go up my leg while driving, but I told her my uncle would kill us both.

Borax kills ants the trick is getting them to it. Mix some sugar with it, that will attrack them. Once they ingest it and bring it back to the tribe all will die.

i have a 07 classic and just went a round with a pac rat. may be that you had a varmit that eat some wires then died and the ants went after the varmit. just saying this because you where in NM. like the rest i think it needs a complete inspection. we could look under the tank and see a cozy nest and it had only been sitting a few days.
