Just got my 07 r3r the other day. Badass bike.
Onto the problems.
as the bike warms up, the idle goes up as well. Like as high as 1700 rpms and it stays there. Scan tool shows no codes and tps does not move as the rpms climb.
noticed that it was getting hot. Like over 230 degrees before the fan would kick on. Any ideas?
Sounds like it could be a couple things. First if it is a 07 GPMAZ was right it is not a roadster not that it matter much except for newer things it will not have. If its a two tone bike its a classic one tone paint job standard either way its a good bike. First I suspect you have a Primary TPS problem. If the tps voltage does not move as the rpm climbs either your scan tool is not reading it right or the TPS is buggered. IT has to move as it is connected to the throttle plate rod.) second if it sits there at 1700 or so rpms the fan will most likely not keep the coolant cool enough and the bike will over heat. You will need so ECU software to debug this or you will have to take it to the shop. The software will allow to to install and set the Primary TPS and do a full ISCV reset. then you can check the fan switch temp settigns and run a fan test without the engine on. How many miles are on the beast?
I guess it is a Classic. I thought that the non touring models were roadsters. I guess not eh? I wonder what the difference between them is? Can you use an roadster exhaust on a classic?
Back to the problems at hand. It has about 18k on the odometer. I mean it start up at around 800 rpms. As it heats up the rpms slowly climb. 1000, 1100, 1300, etc
As they climb and the water temp goes up the tps never even moves, at least according to my snap-on obd-II scan tool.
The water temp gets over 230 F before the fans come on as well.
I need to order a cable from ebay or amazon to use the eec tuning software, but am unsure of which one to get.
Models were Rocket 3, introduced 2004, Classic in 2006, Tourer 2006/7 only, Touring introduced in 2008, and finally the Roadster in 2010. Or something pretty close to that.
Your fan on temps sound right, that's about where mine come on as well. As to the idle, Warp's likely right on the TPS. Can't help you with the cable, I got mine from TuneBoy prior to the release of TuneECU.
