Air Shocks

Picked up a set of Showa air shocks off a CVO HD at a swapmeet .. haven't got around to fitting them yet. Been told they are pretty good shockies .. $25 I think I gave the guy for them , that was his price.

You guys have seen my posts. I use the R3T as a truck. Do air shocks give more payload capacity?
Airshocks will basically take load until the internal pressure blows the seals/valves etc. In the past I used S&W AirShocks on a Guzzi - the bladders recently went porous (after only 30 years). If you intend to put HUGE pressures in - you'll need an intermediate plenum to avoid massive pressure surges as bike shocks have small bladder volumes.

The Fournales are NOT in the same category. The increased pressure also alters damping. The only folk who can help you on MAX loads are Fournales. They make airshocks for aircraft so they'll know what pressure the seals will take. But as the Big Magnums are made to take heavy loaded Harley Bagger weights - I'd say you're on safe ground.

FYI - R3's have the highest pressure Rule of Thumb from Fournales. I run mine harder than they suggest - but because I've always run my airshocks hard sprung. Fournales will tell you (correctly) that 0.5bar makes a big difference - I run about 1bar high. The only decent way I've found to get initial sag right is to have them just top out on the side stand.

Progressive also do some AIR adjustable - a mix of steel and air - maybe worth a call?
