Boy, the comments are hilarious, deservedly so. That was some sh!tty demonstration of low speed maneuvering.
If Motorman sees him stretch that leg out like that he'll retire.

You'll have to explain. Other than getting hit by a car or rolling off a cliff there's not much dangerous at 5mph.
Anytime you're conditioned to drop a leg as a safety net at low speeds you will do it at all speeds. It shows a lack of confidence in your slow speed abilities and turning skills. If you drop a leg to make a turn with panniers or bags chances are as you drop your leg it will hit the bags if you have it on the ground for even an instant. Talk to any rider safety course instructor and he will echo my opinion. Dropping a leg doesn't make you a bad rider it just makes you lack confidence in your skills. practice slow work and you won't feel the need to drop your leg.

I had a student one year, dirt biker, so he was used to putting a foot out in the corners, we were able to break that habit, and this kid rode great all day, knew what he was doing and easy to teach, he was doing the slalom course in the afternoon, and the back of the bike happened to skip out slightly on him and he reactively dropped a foot, it took less than a second for him to compound fracture his ankle, a few plates and screws and he came back the next season and took the course again and killed it.
