Riding home last night from work , ABS light suddenly comes on and i think WTF ? So 5 mins later pulled into the servo for fuel and give the bike a quick once over. Seems some fuxing idiot ( me ) forgot to tuck the straps up on my pack that sits on the the luggage rack , strap had gotten tangled up around the rear ABS rotor !!! Still stuck there i wont have a chance to untangle it till tomorrow , only then will i know if ive damaged the sensor............. One question is there any issues with riding R3R with ABS disabled/broken ? Will it just act like a non ABS setup ? Yes the Wrecka strikes again , happy that the outcome wasnt a whole lot worse though...........

Some more knowledgeable (that's a big word) people on here may /will know more than I, but on other vehicles cars and especially 4WDs I have damaged the ABS sensors or senders and the unit reverts to a normal non ABS set up ,just be care full when first applying the brake but the hydraulic circuit should still be OK

I had something similar happen on my ZX10 and the light went out once the bungee cord was gone and the bike was turned off over night. I have not made that mistake fdoe a while.

Jack up your bike (rear wheel off ground) and spin the wheel to check rotor to sensor clearance . Any variation(bend) changing the gap will cause the abs light to stay on .There is a maximum gap which I cant remember . Just physically adjust the rotor where required .Hopefully that's all that's happened - easy fix.

You shall have NORMAL brakes without ABS function that work properly.
I rode mine several thousand miles with the ABS light on when I once went with a 130 front tire.
No ABS = no issues.

I had self-created ABS issue on my Tiger, don't know if the Rocket is similar. Changed tire, adjusted chain and forgot to tighten the axle nut before a ride. It let things move enough to throw a fault, but did no damage. On that bike, the ECU/engine have to go through several heat-up/cool-down cycles before the ECU decides things are OK. I think it took about a week to reset the ECU light (NOT the abs, it went out as soon as I addressed the problem). May not apply here.

Years ago on a trip one of our crowd was riding a fireblade and wearing a big pack on his back, the strap somehow got loose then caught in the rear wheel and he was pulled into a position where he was lying backward on the seat unable to see where he was going, crashed and reasonably badly mashed up himself but survived to ride again - watch those straps!
