A question for my UK bro's

On the right side handlebar controls, is there a switch above the start button? I have a blank there now and I am thiking it would be a great place to activate my garage door opener.

I think this is where the on/off switch would be for the headlights, before legislation changes made it mandatory for them to remain on, and the switch was no longer required. I had the same thing on a Tiger and my dealer gave this explanation. Do Triumph still make it this way so that switches can still be fitted for markets where daytime lights are not compulsory?

You're right though - seems logical to wire some kind of accessory in there.

I wonder if Triumph offers a switch to fit in there. When I had the housing apart I noticed there were a few wires unused. It would be easy enough to trace them down and disconnect them at the other end.

Another option would be to use the blank in the plastic panel just in front of the LHS sidepanel, if you haven't already.

I've got my heated grips wired into a switch there, instead of the ugly Triumph handlebar switch.

I don't know which countries still allow switchable headlights etc, but I guess it wouldn't make much sense for Triumph to produce a slightly different wiring loom for those, and another for the rest of us. Therefore my guess would be that the wires are there, just not the switch. The questions are really whether these wires would show up on a workshop wiring diagram, and what, if anything, are the conected to at the other end?

If they are on a wiring diagram, I guess a dealer could help?

Triumph dont make a switch to go in the space or the original housing with the switch still installed. I tried to get either to switch the fog lights so I coud loose the ugly switch supplied with the lights, however was unsuccesful.

Whilst searching I did find out that the last bike it was used on was a 1990 Boni with 1 inch bars, I even tried all the breakers for a second hand part with out any joy.

Still looking though, if anyone finds some let me know where.

Not only would I give my left arm to be able to play the piano... I'd give my right thumb to be able to switch the lights off :lol:

Now, do I remember someone saying that the bike has trouble starting if the main bulbs blow? Will switching them off have the same effect?
