Got back yesterday from Townsville Nth Queensland visiting an old Army Mate who is in remission from cancer ,6 days on the road and 2 days with old mate ,I now know why they call the Kawasaki 1400 GTR the Transcontinental Sports Tourer , the hardest thing was keeping the bike somewhere near the speed limits it would cruise at 180Kph all day if you let it ,if a 68 year old bloke can do 5000 Ks in 6 days it must be comfortable a nice alternative if anyone is looking for a lighter bike capable of long days on the road
I am over Motel beds and Pub food for a while ,

I love being on the open road.

I have a 7 day, 5,300 km trip coming up in September

Ever noticed how Googlemaps makes the trip look shorter than it is. that or your roads are **** wide. 57hours - sounds easy. But it isn't.

I really need to get my trip to Romania planned. 3400kms each way. Plus storming the Alpine passes once there.

Was looking at the GTR myself as i love the style and spec list but being 6 2" and 20 stone the FJR1300 Yam had a bit more room so i bought one of those instead..My FJR takes the mrs and myself on a 300 mile jaunt most weekends without any fuss at all....I love it:)

It was a toss of the coin between the FJR and The GTR both great sport touring bikes I am 6. I" and a slim 100Kg and the GTR fits like a glove ,my wife is getting used to the GTR she loved the R3T seat and back rest I have ordered a set of pillion peg lowering bars to give her a more comfortable ride and the top box doubles as a back rest both the GTR and the FJR are frightfully fast even in stock form no need to fiddle
