I've added about 6000 km's to the clock of my r3 after buying it 2nd hand and I find the clutch is starting to slip.

I haven't abused it, just cruised it.

Is this a known thing, just 3rd gear slipping? 1st and 2nd are fine, so are 4th and 5th.

If needed, what would it take in hours to change it out for some new gears? Are there any brands that anyone would advise?

Before you start replacing clutch plates, make sure you have some freeplay in your clutch cable/lever. No freeplay could mean you are preventing the pressure plate from fully disengaging the clutch. This also causes premature wear on the lifter shaft.

Also, do you know what oil is in the engine. A non motorcycle specific engine oil could coat the clutch discs with a friction modifier causing them to slip. If you do replace the clutch pack, make sure you use a proper motorcycle oil with a JASO and or MA rating for motorcycles.
