Reason it is how it is, I reused the factory silicone throttle body rubbers. They stick up inside the original plenum to help direct airflow.
I reused them for their lower profile mount to the manifold. They also stick up inside my "mailbox" design, which developed a natural forward cant' and end diameter.
Also read that some people install the triple KN's and have more noise. I was trying to avoid noise by incorporating the Helmholtz intake theory. The factory triumph silicones are actually perfect for this.
I don't have anymore intake noise than the factory setup.
Helmholtz intake theory may not have its place in this application, but the R3 is a high performance machine so why not.
