Thanks for writing this up, this gives me a better idea of approach. I also bought one of these at the same time (mine also came in this week) and I'll be installing it at some point but I ordered the one with the adjuster.

Nice. Post some pics. Curious how the remote hydraulic adjuster mounts. I'd guess to the OEM holes. I was thinking of the hydraulic adjuster, but they want so much for it. and I don't know how often I'd change it.
Yes, the adjuster mounts in the stock location. I'll grab some pics when I get to the install. Just curious for the top nut did you go in with your wrench from way underneath like the pic or did you go in under the seat/behind the tank?

I went in along side the shock on the inside of it from the rear. I didn't even need to take the seat off actually. And the muffler's off because I had it re coated. Nothing to do with the shock install. I just left it off because I figured I'd chip it with a wrench or something. Best thing is to get a good light and look in and find the nut. Then you'll see where you have to get an open end.
Makes me curious how much preload you had on the original unit. Your weight would suggest you needed to add some preload and probably back off the compression/rebound damping. My weight requires I add a LOT of preload and have NO compression/rebound damping. That's the way I set up the stock unit, and it has served adequately so far. I may upgrade the shock sometime in the future just to get a better spring rate, but so far it's held up to what I've asked from it without jolting my spine. I was out riding it last week and the ride was smooth over most surfaces. That said I did have to drop over $2K into my Bobber's suspension just so it wouldn't break my back or permanently damage spinal discs.
