I don’t know what it’s like in other countries, but as Jagster and Steff will testify to age/experience is the main problem. Followed by where you live in the country, big Cities being the worst.
One of my Army mates lives in Brent, a suburb of NW inner London. He’s got a top of the range Indians, £1200 Fully Comprehensive it cost him.
In comparison, I live a 130 miles away NE of him, in a small old fishing town. Bike theft in the U.K. in cities is pandemic, but here it’s mainly twist and go Scooters and the odd 125 bike. So my insurance is very reasonable compared to my mate. I’ve just insured my R111 and my BSA A65 fully comp with recovery and legal assistance £290!
Yeah, like I mentioned, mine is £140 for a CBR1100XX. The Rocket cost the same. It's only fire and theft.

I used to do TPF&T , but because the price of today bikes and the standard of car drivers, I went Fully Comp.
As an after thought who remembers the monopoly Norwich Union had in the Republic of Ireland in the 80’s and early 90’s. The sneaky barstewards had signed a deal with the Irish Government, so they were only company allowed to insure Bikes! So someone in the U.K. paying a £100, over in Eire the poor buggers were stitched up like a kipper and paying over 1000% more than the U.K.!

I pay $130 a month for full coverage and that also covers paying for a new bike at what ever the current new cost is at the time of accident. I can see how where you live can play a role as crime is worse in some cities than others. I guess it all cokes down to how kuch risk they think you are of getting into an accident or getting it stollen because I do get a discount for keep it in a garage.

I had 7 bikes and didn't insure any of them, not required in Florida, and they were all older. But I bought one last new bike a few months ago, and had to insure it because I had a loan, $48/month. Not sure if I'll continue the insurance when I pay it off, planning to next month.

Here in the U.K. Third party insurance is the minimum required by law, ie no insurance your not allowed on the road! Plus we have to pay a road tax for the privilege of riding on increasingly pot holed roads.
Depending on your insurance company, the more security devices fitted, you do get a slight reduction in your policy. But they do like it, if your security devices are approved by a Security Institution called Thatchams.
At the moment I’ve not got an alarm fitted, but in the new year I’m looking at a tracker for the R111. There’s been some good results by fitting a tracker.
A Supercar hire business had a Lamborghini stolen, it disappeared in a container, turned up in Hong Kong, and they got the car back!

Here in Phoenix, I pay $95.00 a month for full coverage on two Triumph’s.
2025 bobber and 2020 Rocket R
Under lock and key 75% of the time. I lock them up together when we're out. A little harder to steal two.

I'm being quoted between $250 $500 per year, depending on the level of coverage I want. It could be higher (or lower) based on the options I include. The biggest discount I can see that I get is paying it all at once. I probably get a significant discount for being married, older, having years under the tires, etc.

I was paying $600 annually for the 2300 R3, 120 SDR & 120 Sas all 3 full+ coverage. Unfortunately my speeding tickets caught up with me and it's gone up a bit to around $900 annually for full on a 2011 k1600gtl, 2022 1290 SDRevo, and 2024 1290 Sas. I'm going thru Foremost, live outside chicago, ride 5 months a year 5000 miles max, have 40 years experience, garage kept, helmet and every other cub scout thing you can pull outta your ass during the telephone estimate questionnaire. Full + includes up to $3k acc's and allows for tossing a buddy keys for a day. I talk to guys that roll their bikes into their homeowners and automobile ins and to a man are getting boned on the rates.

Also, the Rocket is classified as a muscle cruiser, not a sport bike as I understand it. This would make a definite difference in insurance cost. I think the Sport bike classification is the highest for insurance costs other than older bikes that are worth a lot of money as collectables
