Panniers, why so difficult to obtain in New Zealand?

I wanted to purchase and install original sport panniers & brackets on my R3. I have a big trip (2 weeks riding) coming up in February, so ordered back in September, was told mid November as none in stock. Come mid November, no reply. Rang them back twice now, still no reply on ETA. Decided to ring other dealers and no one has any, quotes are 3 months plus. Absolutely hopeless Triumph NZ. Now looking at overseas for options. The pitfalls of a small country and a useless importer/supplier.

Have you tried Filco in Nelson? That's where I sourced mine, (few months ago now though) only issue was the horrendous cost of the things. Where ya going in Feb? I'm off on a 10 day North Island roady mid Feb myself.

China is probably closer to you than the US. @ciderbaby posted this Aliexpress link. You could probably bolt up a lot of different bags to it 1Adapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt or maybe just something like this?

Yes tried them, ChCh & Dunedin. Seems they’re made from unobtanium.
I’m off on 15 Feb (there’s another tale of NZ companies that can’t meet demand (thanks Ferries). Anyway, heading North Island as well with a couple of mates. No set route, just ride and have fun following the sun. I might need to get a new rear tire sooner rather than later, it wouldn’t surprise me if they have none available of those either.

15th I'm heading from AKL to New Plymouth, 16th New Plymouth to P/North. Could well be giving you a wave.
Will keep an eye out for you, your bike looks just like mine.
Anyway, update. Got my bags today, problem being it doesn’t come with the lock barrels. I understand that these are supplied with the bike when new? Unfortunately i bought mine 2 years old, and they were not passed on to the dealer. Any idea on what will fit? I know Triumph will supply replacements, but i am making an educated guess that there are none in the country and they will be 3+ months to arrive

Having Triumph make a couple of new ones up would be horrendously expensive for 2 lock barrels. That's what ya need though, wonder if a locksmith like chubb or ross gault may be able to assist with a solution. The idea is all the locks work off the same master key, but the barrels themselves may be from something else, as long as they fit.
Another thing you could try is contacting the original owner, see if he still has the folder / bag thing that they came in along with the manual & spare keys etc. Have you got the Triumph folder / bag thing?

It's not a regional issue, it's just a supply issues and one that seems to be bad for triumph general and specifically the rocket (which is somewhat understandable as it is made and sold in comparably low numbers). Triumph don't seem to hold a lot of stuff, so a lot of things are on "back order". Back order means when they get enough orders they contact their supplier and make an order, so back ordered parts have an unknowable wait time. The standard I get told at my local dealer is 10 weeks, it's just a throw away line.

Your best bet is someone who holds stock outside of the Triumph system, I've had luck with some of the online UK suppliers with them holding stock where the dealer is on back order. Might be worth a try? hope this helps, good-luck.

I have contacted the shop I bought it from, they said they will try and hunt them down via previous owner or in one of their drawers. No guarantees though. When I bought it I got the spare keys and the manual, nothing else. Shop says they usually put stuff like that under the seat, but not there. Triumph charge $200 for replacement! I could buy 10 barrels for that. I might try Ross Gault if no luck from shop/previous owner
