Looking for Triumph Pannier

So.....I have found some replacement bags without keylocks. Called the dealer and they want $100 for two locksets.
I will order, but wondering about installing them. Does it take special tools requiring the dealer to do it? I've never missed with locksets
before.

Also, regarding the question about riding with only one bag. I threw in 5 lbs(?) on the left side and went canyon riding. If you're going straight down the road, didn't feel the difference. However, once I got into the turns, at speed, I was having to counter steer on the right grip a little more to compensate for the weight having to be lifted on the left side. I could feel the weight slightly while sitting at a light. If you had the 10lbs weight capacity in there, it would definitely be a handful in turns. Would not recommend.

FWIW, while await backordered replacement pannier.

1.) Trying the ViaTerra Claw Mini, 48L saddle bag. $100-ish on Amazon. Nice design, well made if modest zippers/material; not cheap, but not heavy duty.

Granted you lose the pillion seat soace, but for a weekend solo trips it has worked remarkably well. Just the right size on the Rocket, not obtrusive and hanging all over creation. Have been tying it down to the pillion rack mounts and pillion seat rest, very tidy no goofy straps running all over.

The lonely left pannier can mount simultaneously, so actually could carry quite a bit for camp or whatnot.

How has that bag been working out for you? Does it stay in place when spirited riding? Do you have a link for it?

Sandcritter,
You mention "lonely left pannier" in your post. Does that mean you have the left factory pannier and missing the right side?
If so, I can relate. I have the factory left with previous owner losing the right side.
Am I interrupting correctly?

Ty,
Have come to appreciate the bag a lot. Quite handy. It does rub a bit on the fender, over the course of a season leaving some scuff marks. A negative, but, suppose any other bag so designed would do the same? Straps down tight and handily/tidy; has been at “very illegal” speeds often enough, had no snake heads left on rear at seasons end, so yes, have challenged the mounting - no issues. Found on amazon, $100 or so, not a big risk to try out.

Lotus,
Yeah, the right pannier departed on a 90mi jaunt to the city. Never felt or heard a thing. Looked and looked along route to no avail. Cost me a few hundred bucks, plus a lockset, and 3 mo’s wait or so? Ship happens.

If i’ve a pillion, the factory panniers are a given, and do like them. If going solo, kind of a coin toss; the bag is handier to carry into a hotel vs two full panniers, so there’s that.

Thanks so much for the update. I will give it a shot.

Sandcritter,
Same story for the previous owner. I had posted a request on this site to replace the lost one.
Somebody responded he saw a guy selling pannier's and pointed me to his email. I pursued the lead and
went back and forth in buying a set. Wouldn't part with just the right side. To make a long story short, it
turned out this guy was a low life crook. He told me to make payment using Zelle, which my Chase bank had.
Made payment and never received the panniers. I'm not gullible and did the best due diligence I could to vet
the guy. When I realized this guy was a crook, I went to the bank to see if I had any recourse in getting my
$350 back. The bank told me to contact Zelle and good luck. They admitted I had little chance of getting my
money back. Thanks Chase. I did call Zelle and talked to two Malaysian ladies I could hardly understand who
told me to contact the bank. I asked the two Zelle ladies to flag two email addresses for fraud, they didn't
understand or care about what happened. Caught in circular finger pointing with no recourse. Ugh
Don't EVER use Zelle without having a personal relationship with the receiver. Understand why crooks recommend
Zelle for payment. They are a willing platform for crooks.

Beware of these two email addresses:
The two low life crooks are:
bww5325@gmail.com
katrinastewart7822@gmail.com

May they rot in hell.......
