Zumo connection / power question

I went inside of the back of the headlight and tapped into the little 194 bulbs power it only works when the key is on.

I thought there were open available taps. I'd hate to tap into another circuit. I had the power outlet installed. Since there isn't anything in the US that plus into it, I wonder if I can use that one.

Straight to the battery, I need it to be permanently live, its no good having it go off when you stop for gas etc…..

Tapped into my rear light , so works off the ignition .

Zumo has its own battery power , so did not want a permanent live all the time , prefer to work off the ignition switch

If you have it tapped into an ignition controlled source (parking lights, taillight), are you saying that the unit will stay on using the internal battery when the ignition is turned off?

This sounds like the better approach. It should have enough stored internal power to plan your trip before arousing the beast. Once started, the bike power source would take over and also recharge the internal battery. At a pit stop, the internal battery would take over when the ignition is off. Lastly, if you somehow forget to turn the unit off, it will simply run down the internal battery rather than the Roc battery. Is this a correct assumption?

Yes, But it will probably need prompting to do so..... Sully?

TT, can you manually turn on the Tom Tom before you turn on the ignition. If so, will the Tom Tom stay on when you eventually turn on the ignition and start up the beast?
