Always thought it'd be cool to have a girlfriend that rode her own bike .. until I had a girlfriend that rode her own bike. It was a pain in the ass to be honest. Twas a grand day when she and her bike rode off into the sunset.. Don't want to sound like a chauvinist pig  but i'm over-f#ckin-joyed that Catherine has no inkling to ride herself and loves being on the back.

There is a consensus that the V series are reliable though perhaps underpowered - re-jetting and a better breathing setup will get the 650 to 60/70hp so that would likely be enough for her first few years.

:)

There is no doubt on the quality of Yamaha.I had 4 road trail yamahas over the years and they were all excelant bikes.
My old 1980 XT250 will start on 2nd kick after 12 months of standing idle and my friends who have ridden it say its like riding something much newer.

Ive always wanted one of the larger XV bikes as a 2nd bike

Owned a few (8) Yammy's dirt and road bikes in my younger day never had an once of trouble with any of them probably the better of the Jap manufacturers out there. :)

As mentioned in another thread how much it cost me to put a solo seat on rocket. And as far as I'm concerned it was money well spent.
A great feeling looking in mirror to see her following .
Although the flip side on the coin. Blasting off from the group to have a bit of a play and later slowing down a bit and notice a set of headlight quickly approaching .....
Graduated from a 900 TBird to a 1050 Tiger
She can hold her own now.
